Crafting More Than Candles
The Opulent Bee Candle Company is a testament to the power of creativity, resilience, and a deep passion for the arts. Founded by Jaclyn Stoczanyn, a first-generation entrepreneur of Guatemalan and Ukrainian descent, the company reflects a personal journey of self-discovery, healing, and artistic expression. As a self-taught candle artisan, Jaclyn combines her love for the creative process with her rich visual arts, music, and education background, creating a unique and luxurious product that resonates with beauty and purpose.
Jaclyn's foundation in the arts is vast. She is self-taught, has an acrylic and oil pastel painting background, and is classically trained in piano and violin. Her vocal jazz experience has further shaped her artistic expression, emphasizing the importance of harmony, precision, and emotion in every piece she creates. However, the lessons imparted by her mother truly influenced Jaclyn.
Jaclyn's mom, a skilled gardener and self-taught floral arranger, taught her from a young age to appreciate the delicate beauty of nature and the art of floral design. These early lessons in gardening, hard work, discipline, and determination laid the groundwork for Jaclyn's floral candle bouquets, where each candle reflects the timeless elegance of nature's enchanting blooms.
A Therapeutic Process
The Opulent Bee Candle Company was born from Jaclyn's journey of healing and self-care. Diagnosed with ADHD in her late 30s and anxiety due to PTSD, in addition to other serious medical problems, Jaclyn turned to candle-making as a therapeutic outlet, finding solace and focus in the craft.
What began as a personal form of creative expression evolved into a luxury candle business grounded in sustainability, elegance, and a deep commitment to the healing power of art. Each hand-poured candle is infused with organic soy wax and botanical fragrances, designed to offer a beautiful product and a meaningful experience.

As an adult educator and advocate for student success, Jaclyn's professional background in adjunct faculty, administration, and other roles in higher education plays a vital role in the philosophy behind The Opulent Bee. With a master's degree in Administrative Leadership and Adult Learning, Jaclyn uses her expertise to offer private lessons in candle-making, individually and in groups. She also leads mindfulness, somatic breathing, and adult learning workshops, blending her artistic and educational passions to create environments that foster creativity, personal growth, and community.
